Account & Data Deletion Request

At My Home Library, we respect your privacy and provide full control over your personal data. You can delete your account and all associated personal information at any time directly in the app or by submitting a web request.

Option 1: In-App Account Deletion (Instant)

  1. Open the My Home Library app on your device.
  2. Go to Settings ⚙️.
  3. Scroll down to the Account Deletion section.
  4. Tap Delete Account & Personal Data and confirm.

Note: If you have active borrowed physical books from a friend, your account will be placed in Pending Deletion state until the book is marked as returned by the owner.

Option 2: Request Deletion via Email (Web Request)

If you have uninstalled the app or cannot access your device, you can request manual account deletion:

Send an email to: support@my-home-library.com

Subject: Account Deletion Request - My Home Library

Include in email: Your registered email address or public username.

Requests are verified and permanently processed within 72 hours.

Active Book Loans Policy (Important Requirement for Deletion)

To protect community trust and prevent unreturned physical book loss, account deletion requires that you have NO ACTIVE UNRETURNED BOOK LOANS.

  • In-App Deletion (App Installed): If you have the app installed, you can request deletion directly in Settings ⚙️. If you have active borrowed books, your account will enter Pending Deletion state until all items are marked as returned by their owner.
  • Email Request (App Uninstalled): If you request deletion via email after uninstalling the app while holding borrowed books, you will receive a response listing your unreturned items. You must coordinate returning the physical books to their owners.
  • Final Deletion Confirmation: For email requests, once you have returned the borrowed items to their owners, reply to our support email so we can verify the return with the book owner and complete your account and data purge.

Data That Will Be Permanently Erased

Upon account deletion, the following data is permanently purged from our database:

  • User Account Profile (Email, Name, Photo URL, Unique User ID)
  • Uploaded Book Catalog & Personal Library Records
  • Storage Locations & Room Hierarchy (Places)
  • Custom Virtual Shelves
  • Friend Connections, Sent/Received Friend Requests, and Chat History
  • Wishlist & Reading History Logs

Data Retention Policy

Once deleted, all personal records are immediately and irreversibly purged from active databases. No user data is retained after deletion completion.
