Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how My Home Library ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you register for our closed beta testing program through our landing page. We are committed to protecting your privacy in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the minimal data required to invite you to and run the closed beta program:

  • Email Address: Used to invite you to the testing environment (via Apple TestFlight for iOS or Google Play Console for Android).
  • Operating System Choice (Platform): To ensure we add you to the correct testing system (iOS or Android).
  • Consent Status: Verification that you explicitly agreed to this policy.
  • Timestamp: The date and time of your sign-up.

2. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR Compliance)

Under the GDPR, we process your email address based on your explicit, freely-given consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). By checking the consent box on the sign-up form, you grant us permission to process your data for the sole purpose of closed beta testing enrollment.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used strictly for the following purposes:

  • Adding you as a tester in Apple TestFlight or Google Play Console.
  • Sending you direct communications related to the beta test (e.g., notification when a new test build is ready, instructions for submitting feedback, and notification when the app launches).

We do not sell your email to advertisers, and we do not use your email for unrelated newsletters unless you explicitly opt into them later.

4. Data Storage and Transfers

Your registration details are stored securely in Google Cloud Firestore, a cloud database hosted by Firebase. The database is configured with strict Security Rules preventing unauthorized public reading, editing, or harvesting of emails. Data may be transferred and stored on servers located outside of your home country (such as in the United States), subject to standard contractual clauses protecting personal data.

5. Physical Book Exchanges & Delivery Disclaimer

My Home Library provides digital tools solely for personal cataloging and peer-to-peer lending tracking. We do not participate in, arrange, facilitate, or oversee the physical mailing, shipping, postage, or handoff of any books between users.

All physical book exchanges, shipping logistics, return handoffs, and associated risks or expenses are the sole responsibility of the respective users. My Home Library assumes no liability for lost, damaged, delayed, or unreturned physical books.

6. Data Retention

We will retain your email address only for the duration of the closed beta test. Once the beta phase ends and the app launches publicly, we will permanently delete all stored emails from the beta sign-up Firestore collections, unless you request deletion sooner.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location (Europe, California, Canada, etc.), you have several rights regarding your data:

  • Right to Withdraw Consent: You can opt-out and withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Right to Deletion (Right to be Forgotten): You can request that we permanently delete your email address from our records immediately.
  • Right to Access: You can request confirmation of whether we hold your email address.

To exercise any of these rights, simply email us at support@my-home-library.com with the subject line "Delete my beta registration". We will process and confirm your request within 72 hours.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy occasionally to reflect changes in our beta program. We will notify you if any major changes affect how your data is handled.
